Pranab Mukharjee For The President?

It has been in the evening news today that the ride to the Rashtrapathi Bhavan for the present finance minister is likely to be smooth though there is a lot of political hues and cries about the same. When I read that article, i just did one thing. I went to the president of India website to see why there is so much tension and as a result of that, a few things that I learned today from the incumbent incompetent president of the nation (I am not telling that she is incompetent, even the Congress feels so and that is why her name is no where to be found in this tussle!):

Unlike the responsibilities of a prime minister, the president can sit and relax in that wonderful palace called as the Rashtrapathi Bhavan. The British always knew how to live the life and so do our politicians. Before our beloved Dr. Kalam had occupied the palace, I am sure no common public would have criticized the president of going on abroad tours or living in such luxury. It is the high quality of the man (Dr. Kalam) that has made us expect a lot from the president while all the other presidents were actually doing nothing but roaming around the world.

If you are a president:

You have a lovely house that has anything and everything
You get a salary that you would never spend, a salary that you would get for doing nothing at all
You could go on various holidays with your spouse without having to plan or earn for it
You could announce your own salary to be hiked by 300% (Like the HONOURABLE incumbent lady has done it)
You can be away from comments until the next president election comes by or if your predecessor was really an honourable man who tried as much to exercise all the powers to do good to the people.
You get a personal cavalry force as your body guards
You get salutes wherever you go

So what else do you want?

Did you know that there was a contestant for the Presidential elections from Tamilnadu, a farmer, whose name is KOMANAM THANGAVELU (The prefix KOMANAM comes because he is seen most of the time with a langoti only).

Like everyone wants to do an Engineering degree today, everybody wants to become the president and obviously, there is so much of luxury in the life.

Coming back to PA Sangma's candidature, I read a comment about him by a citizen and it read
"I do not want that beef eating roman catholic to be our country's president"

to that, immediately, someone named Agatha Sangma replied back saying:
"Would you be happy if he drunk urine?"

I mean... what kind of things should be taken into consideration for getting someone elected as the president of the nation?

People say that he is a tribal person and hence we must elect him. What bakwas is this? Does he deserve all the benefits of the post? Will he bring glory to the post like Dr. Kalam or would he take this as a chance to commence his world tour?

When the President cannot sign anything without the backing of the parliament, why the hell should he or she take up a tour and waste the state's money?

Who would you vote to be the nominal head of the Indian Republic?

and yes,I was shocked to read in an article that the president of ourz had gone for trips in more than a 100 countries ?
power corrupts, but hey it only does when the person is innocent while taking up the same, not when then intended purpose itself is exploitation

    1. I cannot agree to this more. But the thing is... we are not electing our representatives. Both in the minds of the people and the politicians, the latter are an elite class of people of a higher echelon. that thought must vanish and people and the politicians must realise that they are servants of each and every citizen in the country!

  3. "..people and the politicians must realise that they are servants of each and every citizen in the country!..."

deepak this is the idealistic character... though this must have been the way people and politicians must be, seeing from where we stand now, i think this going to be really hard to achieve...

what is the possible way that we sow the seeds of patriotism and selfless service into the hearts and brains of our fellow countrymen?

if we can bring out a effective solution the above, I'm sure most of our problems would seize to exist...

  4. The candidature for elections should have some well defined qualifications!! I don see how Pratibha Patil even fit in any of those.. lest it be something like.. own a whole wardrobe of the finest flashy silk sarees to flaunt with, while going on world tours!!
