I love to learn from the success of the
successful people (LOL!!), and inspired by an idea to do 30 different things in
a month, I started to watch a video on TED every day. So, I start my day with
inspiring thoughts from geniuses around the world, which kind of keeps me
motivated and energetic throughout the day. I stumbled upon startlings in
one such talk. Starlings it sounds like a lot of things, a chocolate? a
cartoon? Well they are probably the most inspiring beings from whom, I have
ever got inspired till date. Starling is a bird of the family sturnidae (courtesy:
Wikipedia) and I have come to learn that, the larger ones are particularly
called as mynas, yeah!!! Myna is a colloquial term used to refer a girl or a
loved one in most of the tamil songs. Coming back to the script let me give you
an opportunity to experience the aura of the starlings, check out the photos.

They flock together as groups and in their case it seems, they are not called as a flock instead they are called as murmur, owing to the sounds their flight makes collectively. What is fantastic about them is that even though they fly together in so many numbers, they never collide. A classic example of co ordination!! They share information when they fly not only about food but also predators, obstacles, they trust each other. They seem to follow the motto: Share to live long, happy and content. They are a personification of leadership, but from the outset observe the pictures carefully you do not and probably cannot spot the leader, it is a beauty of team work. And when they are together they can scare away the most powerful predator! a symbol of power.
Staying together as a team each one
contributing the best of their abilities, sharing, coordinating, trusting, bestows
upon the collective the absolute power, freedom and life.
American, Australian, Russian, Ukranian,
Indian; tamilian, malayali, kannadiga, maratas, north Indian ,south Indian etc
etc are all homo sapiens, the ONLY living members of the genus HOMO(courtesy: Wikipedia). Understand we are
just human beings, none of us greater than the other. We have evolved from the greatest
civilizations , discovered a million things, invented the best yet we are only
virtually connected, share only on facebook, trust only technology and not the
man behind its making, helping is obsolete now. Why??
Awake, we have slept enough
In the shadows of ego, jealousy
And all the negative feelings that are not
our birth right
Awake, lets help each other
Awake, to grow together
Awake, to be human and humane.
Let us be a star not in the skies after
death,
but on our paradise- the Earth
Awake it is time for an oath that we will
not become history
for
we are the only living members of the genus HOMO.
Rise and shine…..
Pam,
ReplyDeleteA nice post under the NBSS Society label! Well, here is what I feel. You have very clearly stated that Homo sapiens are the living evolution of animals that can create and understand classifications. Well, that is true. We are also like animals and we do the same thing. We are no different. All those who spoke Telugu initiated the process of dividing the country into states based on the language that was spoken and hence Andhra Pradesh was created by partitioning the Madras presidency and subsequently all the other states were partitioned until recently (Chattishgrah) also. We understand far too much about differences as we have a better observation power and we try making our groups smaller and closer, going into separate shells. I would in fact say that this is a great defect of human evolution as well. When we cannot make every single Indian feel that he or she is an Indian and not a Tamilian or a Malayalee or an Andhrite etc, your suggestion seems to be a far cry. Going to the ultimate picture, if all of us share everything, then most of us would be out of jobs and the whole world would be a landmass governed by Marxist and Leninist principles, which would never be possible. In fact, there should be some competition and that is evident in the nature too, you have mentioned about predators. Only because of that competition the Mynahs are probably able to form such an efficient system. If all birds and animals live in harmony, there would be no danger that would inhibit adaptation and that would inhibit evolution as such. So much we have evolved that thinking beyond the International borders would be not possible and absurd for the same reasons. What we can try to do is to unite the people in every single nation and compete as just the four hundred odd teams in the world in making it a better place. We can only integrate within the already established boundaries and do nothing more. With the present status in the country, I wish and pray that India would continue to have only 28 states till the world ends (at least). It is impossible within our own country to make them accept one common language, share the national resources properly (rivers and energy - governments defy supreme court orders on letting the other state have water and energy), end communalism, treat all individuals the same. But we can keep this post as the Ideal system and try working towards attaining ideality. You know better than I do, that Ideality cannot be reached but we can only tend to it and the maximum we can tend to this ideal case in the present could be to put together all the 240 crore hands and make one clap that reverberates the name India! Jai Hind!
Thanks for the re allignment and the comment :-). Well,I am calling for a greater cause of helping each other irrespective of boundaries and any other barriers that "humans" have created. Considering globalization, the fact that people are looking to grab an opportunity available in any corner of the world, technology and internet complements this phenomena and fuels integration of nations. To quote examples of what I am saying, recently our PM extended monetary help to one of the European nations. The reason for this is quiet clear if that nation falls, the result of it will be felt in India too because we are knit together. the entire world is knit together. Another example is recently I am sorry I do not remember the exact date, but the Indian scientists were able to avert serious consequences of tsunami/ earth quake by sharing the information with the danger prone country. Another example of sharing for a win win situation. Leave aside the humanity cause behind this action, had the earthquake caused serious consequences in the nation, Indian trade with the nation would be affected, so its better save them :-) I agree that the reason to help may not be humane in every case, that I have suggested but people are willing to help, share what I am calling for is to enhance the humane touch to it. Birds and animals cannot live in harmony any day because they feed on each other and in turn help maintaining the environment, but that is not the case with human beings. We are supposed to be wiser and we are supposed to be together helping each other in danger. Another example is readers can check out a company called crowd analytix and their entire business model is based on sharing to achieve the best result. There is immense competition within the group, but each one learns from the other and makes himself better.
ReplyDeleteGone are the days were information is isolated to a place we are all connected, business especially have integrated the nations, trade has knit the world together as a sari,if there is a disturbance at one end its effect will be felt at the other, my point is lets understand this fact come out of ignorance and together prevent another crisis which has recently hit the world. the only way to do it help, trust, share work together.
When it comes to a nation, making anyone feel he is Indian first and then anything else will happen only when the other individuals treat him as one, if they jump into misconceptions of he being from one particular state etc etc,I feel he will be happy to settle for that. So, lets stop looking at a person from a state and language perspective. He will respond back similarly and when people realise where they come from and what they speak is no more relevant the goal is achieved :-)
True Pam, True....
DeleteYou have to keep your competitors alive else life would be dull. When it comes to survival and escape, at present, everybody would help. "Being Human" as it is, has become the new trend. Small things like donating blood is being advertised these days and praised very much. I am not joking, I am seeing a few cars around these days with things like "Mr. and Mrs. So and so : Proud Blood Donators for the past so many years". So, doing good is something so rare that it is spoken out so loud (actually it has to be kept quiet and things have to be done). In fact, competition is interesting only when you make your opponents stronger. What Dr. MMS did could be compared to the Characters Kane and Abel portrayed by Jeffrey Archer. Kane was the reason why Abel became so strong that he pulled the rug under Kane's feet from being the chairman. But that did not cause any harm to the financial strength of Kane and family but harmed his prestige, for he still held the stake. I think the probable reason why doing good to other competitors (is done) and publicised is to avoid the rug pulling, for here when the rug be pulled, the entire economy would be shattered (well knit trade). So, it is like setting your game levels from beginner to professional to expert; you are just strengthening your competition to strengthen your own self. I strongly believe, still that there is no more reasons beyond this for all the good deeds. Well, everything has become indirect and involves Hipocracy. Obama does not deserve the Nobel Peace prize for he is not totally for peace. But he was BRIBED with one so that he would not be anymore aggressive and harmful to any other nation in the world. So, good things are done out of the way to your competitors, for your own good and I believe that strongly.
But world would surely be a better place when everyone share everything, I agree. As I told you before, we will have to first achieve national integration and synergy before we even think of such concepts and we must set somewhat practical goals for us and our future generations.
